    I just played two games in a row against a pretty decent OKW player (level 12, hundreds of games) who seemed to be unaware of the capabilities of the .50Cal. Both games I killed a Puma with AP Rounds, and both games they complained about "RNG." Because this unit is somewhat unique, I thought it would be worth making a short post about it.

    The .50Cal has two unique features for an MG: 1) very high base penetration, and 2) a vet 0 active ability which gives a huge penetration and small damage boost*. The .50Cal HMG has between 5 and 7 penetration (max range vs. close range), and the AP Rounds ability give it an addition +10 penetration. So how does penetration actually work? Its pretty straightforward: the chance for a projectile to penetrate a unit is equal to penetration/armor, with any value equal or greater than 1 being absolute certainty to penetrate.

    So for example, the odds of the .50Cal penetrating a Puma at max range without AP Rounds is 20% frontally and 40% if its firing at the rear armor. With AP Rounds, that goes up to 60% frontally and 100% when firing at the rear armor. Keep in mind that small arms fire has a 100% chance to hit vehicles, so penetration is the only dice roll involved here.

    These numbers are even better against softer targets like the 222, 250, and 251. And also keep in mind that AP Rounds provides a +25% damage boost as well, so even if you're penetrating 100% of the time anyway, it can be beneficial. Do be mindful that it forces a reload, so that can hurt your DPS output if you don't time it correctly.

    *I do want to mention that other MGs, notably the MG42, MG34, and DsHK all get their own AP Rounds. These work slightly differently, and I want to briefly cover them. All information for this post was sourced from either the Changelog, Cruzz's DPS Spreedsheet, and the recently updated ability guide.

    So first of all, the MG42 and MG34 have an Incendiary AP Rounds ability which gives them a +100% damage boost and +9 penetration buff. This is quite significant, but it is worth keeping in mind that both MGs have noticably weaker base armor penetration than the .50Cal: 1.4-2.2 for the MG42 and 1.3-1.9 for the MG34. These are both good abilities, but not as specialized for just killing enemy light vehicles as the .50Cal is. Also worth noting that the .50Cal can quickly reposition, whereas the Axis MGs are both quite slow, making them much worse at dealing with a light vehicle that just dives behind them. The bigger damage buff does make these abilities quite menacing vs. infantry.

    The DsHK has a +200% penetration buff with no damage increase. The DsHK's base penetration is 5-7, same as the .50Cal, and so in practice this is an even bigger buff than to the .50Cal. The DsHK also has excellent base DPS, and high mobility similar to the .50Cal, making it also a very strong anti-light vehicle unit.

    So there original company of heroes didn't work properly in newer laptops. Is there a way to play in newer Laptops? Any HD version or mods to do that?

    Is anyone playing on Mac these days?

    I literally just downloaded the game on my macbook because I was told that there was a small, but nice community of Mac CoH2 players but I just got online at absolute prime time and I'm literally the only person searching for a game.

    When I play as Axis it's: axis 100% - 0% allies
    When I select an allied faction: 100% allies - 0% axis

    "panzerfusilier weapons cool down 2% faster" does this include G43s and schrecks?

    if it only applies to the default weapon then I'm gonna go with that one.

    How do I play workshop maps?

    I subscribed to a workshop map then restarted steam but it's not showing up in the map list. I'm using the blitzkrieg mod but I don't think that matters because the map says it works with all mods?
