Is there a way to play old maps?

    Posted: 05 Mar 2020 05:11 PM PST

A few maps have vanished over the years from auto match. Is there a way to find them and play, even against AI?

Should I get the Wehrmacht's Ostruppen Doctrine or Defensive Doctrine?

    Posted: 05 Mar 2020 03:30 PM PST

They both look pretty good to me, though maybe ostruppen has a wider range of uses I guess?

The defensive doctrine I'm talking about is the one with the ability that gives infantry the ability to make fortifications including tank traps. The guy wears glasses, a big coat and a tall hat and has a pretty neutral face

The ostruppen Doctrine I'm talking about is the one where you can paradrop supplies which have a bunch of goodies in them including a support weapon like mg42 I think? The commander wears a purple uniform just barely in the picture and has an aggressive ish face expression.

The supply system is retarded in coh2.

A doctrine commander costs 15k, but you'd get 0.5k per drop which is about 3-4 games (depending on victory or defeat). This means you need to play an average of 105 games (plus a bit more because you don't get supply every time a drop happens).

Alternatively you can get a 12.5k commander which requires about 87.5 games to be played.

Furthermore, the chances of salvaging duplicated materials is negligible, with 500 supply obtained.

Nonetheless, it requires a crapton of grind just for one commander - wth relic?

Brits 25 or 10pt Remaining Phrase?

    Posted: 05 Mar 2020 06:23 AM PST

The Brits say something like, " We have 25 points remaining, niel vespa-random as they say"... I know I'm saying it wrong, but does anyone know what they actually say?

The inefficiency of top level players

    Posted: 05 Mar 2020 03:54 PM PST

    Hi all,

Coming from Starcraft 2 where every click matters and the best players can do the most in the least amount of clicks.

I like that Company of Heroes 2 is not hyper-APM focused like Starcraft 2, as I think strategy should be more heavily weighted than speed.

That being said, I feel like a lot of pros I see are really missing a great opportunity.

A lot of them DO NOT use control groups. They have to manually go to the squad they want to select, hotbox the squad, then issue the command. This can easily be negated by assigning them a number and hitting the # twice to zoom to them or once to act.

This really got to me when I started seeing top level players eating grenades on a few of their squads that could have easily been avoided. If you are managing your conscripts -- you know they aren't in grenade trouble -- and you hear 'grenade', you know its your Penal squad.

An efficient player would simply hit '3' and R to retreat their penal squad so they don't eat the grenade; they don't even have to move the screen to look at them. These guys (the pros) have to open up tac map, go to the squad, and then hit retreat, or move their camera to them. It is highly, highly inefficient.

I think it is good that you can be a top level player in this game while being inefficient with your control, as it means strategy is weighted more heavily than speed and efficiency. However, I die a little inside each time I see a pro-player use 3-4 keystrokes to rectify a problem that could be solved in half that.

Why aren't a lot of the top players using control groups? They could be better if they did -- perhaps get that extra edge they need to beat out their opponent.

New to the game - Are stationary emplacements useless? They seem to get one-shot by bombardment (like the British emplacements), or am I doing something wrong?

    Posted: 05 Mar 2020 03:39 AM PST

I love the Brits, but I can't seem to use their stationary stuff very well... Why build a stationary 17-pound when I could just get mobile AT guns that can be micro'ed away from bombardment?

[Noob question] which commanders should I buy?

    Posted: 05 Mar 2020 09:12 AM PST

There seems to be a lot of them and I'm looking to buy a few to have more options on factions like usf, brits and okw where the commanders included on the DLCs are rather few.

Also: are there commanders which are available on the in-game store but not on steam?
