What setting do you think would make for good COH 3 gameplay?

    Posted: 21 May 2020 08:11 PM PDT

Obligatory: PLEASE Post your own stuff, don't just discuss mine. I made this thread to see what you guys want for COH 3.

That said, some ideas to get the conversation moving.

    My top 3 picks are:

1 Pacific Theater WW2, introducing Melee as a mechanic, and the Assault command (unit will chase a unit and try to stay in melee). You could have weird stuff, like Units that are bad at short range, but good at melee, or vice versa!

I think Japan, ANZAC, USMC, etc would make amazing asymmetrical factional gameplay, and the maps would be very different due to the island-jungle-fortress style of terrain. There would be lots of stealth, ambush, booby trap and sniper mechanics I imagine. Lots of LOS blockers. Tanks would be a lot less dominant.

2 Original Modern Day setting, with Excuse plot of it being a big international wargame, with lots of factions: Every DLC would just be a new country instead of a doctrine, so you could eventually have crazy stuff like the US+Sweden+Japan fight Australia+Germany+Russia.

Also, my logic would be that in such a modern day setting, pretty much every infantry unit would have access to a wide array of abilities and grenades, since pretty much all modern day armies have great equipment, tactics, and training. This changes up gameplay completely when every infantry unit can pop smokes, throw flashbangs to stun, or lay down temporary suppressing fire (all for a munitions cost, of course).

My reasoning is that this would allow the game to have more mechanics, would allow us to continue the CountryBall Banter, and the DLC system would be very fun as more people are able to play as their own country. You could also introduce Intel as a resource, which generates over time, but can be gained from capturing casualties or securing points. Intel is your dedicated Off-Map/call-in resource, making munitions more of a focused resource.

2 b ALTERNATE: Original Modern day setting, but like Ace Combat, the World is entirely different but familiar. Different nations, different landmasses, different conflicts etc. Maybe nukes don't exist in this timeline, allowing actual wars. The equipment used though would all be real life equipment.

3 Original Futuristic setting (as in lasers and gauss weapons). Shiny as in Star wars/star trek futuristic, not Gritty Futuristic. You could have two human factions and two alien factions.

My reasoning is that a futuristic setting allows for extra gameplay mechanics, and also because I just saw an MG42 shoot its laser beam IAP rounds to shred a blob, and it was really cool. Lasers pls!

But for real aesthetically COH but with lasers would be awesome.

The unsung underrated tank of the british empire

    Posted: 21 May 2020 04:57 AM PDT

Just had 4 games in a row with Dungeonman13

    Posted: 21 May 2020 04:01 PM PDT

And every time he tried to teamkill me, got mad that he got his at gun blown up with a satchel, and then went AFK. I have screenshots of this happening each game.

Is there anything I can do to get him banned?

It's been nearly a year since the new Commanders were introduced, what's everyone's opinion of British Lend-Lease?

    Posted: 21 May 2020 11:49 AM PDT

I've been having a really great time with British Lend-Lease over the past few weeks. Assault Sections are incredibly powerful against early-game rushes of Sturmpioneers, and I think they are the best part of the commander's abilities. The Achilles is decent, but lately I've been able to maintain enough pressure to skip right to Comets or Churchills.

Outside of that, what is everyone's opinion of the commander in general?

Discussion: The Kubelwagen is OKW's sniper

    Posted: 21 May 2020 01:34 AM PDT

As of recently, I've tried dipping my hands into some sniper play and I think that they share a lot of similarities with the kubelwagen:

    • They pretty much get destroyed by any anti infantry fire.
    • They pluck off models at long range, and don't cause manpower bleed as long as unit is alive.
    • Their inherent natures with relatively high received accuracy means that they need to be microed properly.
    • Good vision can allow for barrage targetting or scouting.
    • (for ost sniper) Both can suppress when enough veterancy is gained.

Though they do have their obvious differences (like snipers are effective in garrisoned unts and kubels are better at capturing), it is quite interesting about how similar they perform.

    Team Games help

    Posted: 21 May 2020 10:09 AM PDT

Hello, thank you for tuning in, i play mostly 3v3 with my two cousins, we play axis, i play wehr, comp : double wehr one okw. one of my cousins play mostly passive, if he gets point he sits and do nothin and if he gets beaten he just come to different front and try to pretend he is usefull, we mostly lose in late late game when allies create massive indirect fire and tank blob. i wanna ask u how u play vs that kind of shit. do u mass tanks and push ? or fight fire with fire.

TLDR : how to play as Axis vs mass arty/fortifications/mortars/bofors/mass tanks/ when the game slows down a ton.

It feels like on USF that it has the incorrect mobile shooting value of 0.5 instead of the usual 0.75. Is there a way to figure that out?

I want to get better at USF and OKW. I can play all factions except for British.

If you're better than me, awesome. If you're not that's ok too. PM your Steam name.

How do I make a CoH2 tuning pack?

    Posted: 21 May 2020 03:07 AM PDT

I just want the AI to only be able to call in Ostruppen. I tried using the modding tools myself but I'm too stupid to use them. I'd love for someone to make it. I already watched like 20 tutorials.

    Posted: 21 May 2020 01:40 AM PDT

So there's a sale going on and I wanted to know which COH you guys think is better for multiplayer. I already have 2 since steam gave it to me for free. Should I just get another copy for a friend or get us both COH 1?

Can someone tell me the point of Volks being awful early game?

    Posted: 21 May 2020 03:35 AM PDT

They will lose to USF Rifles, Soviet Penals and most of the time Tommys

they are so completely horrible off the start of the game you will almost always lose an engagement on an open map where you can't utilize your sturmpioneers imo (4v4s)

edit: not to mention MG34 having 3/4th the fire rate of the MG42 its just awful in comparison

I'd really like to know reasons behind giving OKW this obnoxious early game handicap I understand the infantry gun is good but you have to unlock it after building med truck where as every other faction in the game has early access to mortar and HMG

Kubel is okay and mainly for adding some extra damage in a fight or great for capping points( it usually just dies regardless so you're down 200+ MP with out a big effect from it)

Sturmpioneers are very nice for OKWs early game and the only way they can honestly hope to win most of the time (early game) but they are only effective on close ranged maps(most maps are not close range)
