Who would win, 100 Rear Echelon troops or 100 Osttruppen?

    Posted: 22 Jun 2020 03:08 PM PDT

If I were hypothetically trying to build a humongous blob, which one would be better?

Rear Echelons have volley fire and higher rate of fire, which is nice, plus they can repair. They also can have rifle grenades and get earlier access to automatic weapons if you choose.

Osttruppen are dirt cheap to reinforce, get a snare, and eventually get MG42s.

Those things aside, if you were to mash two vet 0 blobs of 100 men each against each other, would would come out on top? The scenario is you attack-move them both into the center of the map from their respective bases.

If penal aren't used in close quarters due to cost with shock troops, when should you use them as opposed to cost efficient conscripts and maxims on open maps?

I would say 5 factors ultimately decide build order:

    1. Your Allies
    2. Your Enemies
    3. The Map
    4. Your Commanders
    5. Your skill

I know if you have more British players go offensively (i.e. penals). More Americans go defensively (i.e. T2, Conscripts). And either way for Soviets.

Unsure on Ostheer faction, but vs OKW people swear by T1, so either all or 66%-75% (in a 3v3 and 4v4) of OKW players, go tier 1.

If the map is open then your more exposed to MGs and mortars. These make them more effective which is why conscripts are better. Additionally, if you are fighting in the open like the map Steppe, then penal will die quicker which in turns effects your economy. Plus conscripts eventually become superior anti-infantry vs units in minimum cover. Also, if a map has multiple buildings, then going for T2 is a better choice to entrench multiple machine guns, that way your enemy is forced to dislodge them.

(I'll admit I could be wrong on some of this, this is my initial interpretation)

You should also pick commanders based on the map, "does it have close quarters and poor line of sight visibility?" Use Shock troops. Is it open and subject to battles at a longer range? Can tanks move faster and present a greater challenge? Use guards for the PTRS and DP anti-infantry upgrades then.

Are you experienced with using multiple conscripts? Do you use control groups often? Hotkeys? Do you have a hotkey mouse or program? Then you probably shouldn't do anything that would involve multiple actions. Especially when you could run all your squads into 1 mg and nullify any early game advantage.

I'll admit my logic could be flawed on some of this, and please point it out for other user to learn and avoid, but where do penals fit into build orders other than OKW counter rushing?

I m a Avarege Player at best, so I was always hidding my incompetenc in 2v2 3v3 or 4v4 Matches.
So to get better I tought I need to play 1v1 just to see my own mistakes. I tought only good player tend to search for 1v1 matches.
What can I say.. now I am stuck playing against real below avarage players... I mean everybody starts at one point and they maybe just are new to the game, but boy oh boy it is super boring....
In one game I had near 170 Kills and lost 3 ....
How long does it take to go out of the beginner rank games.
I need to loss, so I can learn. Easy wins dont give we anything.
