Your thoughts on the Ost flamethrower halftrack?

I think it's really nice but it's so very squishy, so it's very hard to manage for me.

Brit patch changes and OST sniper

    Posted: 03 Jan 2021 08:29 PM PST

In team games at least, the ost sniper start is extremely potent

Even though their vision is being nerfed its not as impactful due to high vision pios

All the brit counters to the sniper are being nerfed because: UC will cost fuel, is not a guaranteed kill(faust grens) AEC timing is being nerfed, which makes the window for safely getting a countersnipe off and not immediately getting run down by a 222 non existent

Also, stuka vet 1 fire barrage is basically a hard counter for all emplacements. Essentially making the mortar pit change more of an excuse to buff the stuka than to help out British indirect

Something for balance team to think about

I am thinking about buying CoH 2 but don't know if my expectations are correct

    Posted: 03 Jan 2021 01:15 AM PST

    Hi,

I am looking for an RTS that is not as macro-intense like Starcraft 2 (played that for a long time, it got too intense for me because of all the stuff you have to do all at once). I have fond memories of my time in the original WarCraft 3 multiplayer ladder (I am not gonna touch the mess that is Reforged :D).

WC3 had less base building, was more micro-focused, didn't have that many different build orders. It was more "relaxed" in that sense - your attention is not split between moving your huge Zerg army, building more bases, adding more workers, not getting supply blocked, constantly watching the mini map for drops, spreading the creep, hitting larva injects...

So I'm looking for multiplayer RTS that is more like WC2 in that sense. Someone recommended CoH 2 to me and I looked it up, it looks cool so far.

I watched this intro video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98k198kj8SI

And I am intrigued :) Now it is not like the RTS games I am used to (base-building, defeat the enemy by destroying his buildings / he types 'gg'), it has this Conquest game mode in multiplayer - which is fine by me. You still create some buildings, but it is more focused on smaller squads of units that you have to control - not huge swarms of 200 fast moving zerglings ;)

I have 2 concrete questions now:

    1. How does the multiplayer match making work? Is there something like a ladder with automatic match making? Are there enough players?
    2. It appears that you have to buy some of the multiplayer factions. It is on sale right now with this bundle: https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/8559/Company_of_Heroes_2_Master_Collection/Not even 10 € sounds like a steal to me :D There is also some singleplayer stuff in there which is ok - I will probably play through the singleplayer first before jumping into multiplayer.Do I get everything I need for multiplayer there or did I miss something?

    Thanks in advance :)

Edit: So I bought it and played a little, and unfortunately I was hard out from the start. I was unaware how much I do not like the way this game handles movement of units. I did watch the video I mentioned and I didn't quite realize that you don't have full control over individual units/soldiers, but only squads of multiple soldiers. That's not what I am looking for in an RTS at all - I want full control over the stuff I command and not rely on the computer to place them where it sees fit. It's just not my thing. I requested a refund on Steam.

Still thank you for all your responses! I guess I now know better what to search for and what to avoid ;)

I recently bought the CoH 2 Master Collection, do I need any of the "DLC-DLC"?

    Posted: 03 Jan 2021 05:52 AM PST

Hey, I recently bought the CoH2 Master Collection, thinking that it would include everything the game has to offer. Now I see that several of the DLC also have DLC. There are tons of skins, Commanders, Doctrines, and something called "Fox company rangers" for the Ardennes assault campaign?

I am honestly quite a bit lost. What I dont care about:

    • Skins
    • Stuff that makes single player easier but has no impact on multiplayer (Fox company rangers falls under this I believe)

    What I do care about:

    • Stuff that affects multiplayer and that cant be gained in another way (these commanders ..can I unlock them or do I have to buy them?)
    • I do want to try out multiplayer eventually (coop and pvp) so I would like to have the whole game in that regard.

Is there any more DLC that you would recommend I should get?
