Any tips on how to use artillery (soviet)

    Posted: 20 Jun 2021 11:41 AM PDT

I mainly play as soviets. Play everything from 1v1 to 4v4. But I have never used the different artilleries like ML-20 152mm etc in an effective way. Any tip what the different artillery weapons are good for and how and when to use them.

    PTRS Aiming Period

    Posted: 20 Jun 2021 07:13 PM PDT

Why does the PTRS take time to aim when other anti tank weapons don't need to? It makes it so hard to chase light vehicles (the whole point of the PTRS) when they escape the range before they have aimed the gun.

Discussion about paras, rangers, GI’s and their commanders

    Posted: 20 Jun 2021 11:35 AM PDT

Sorry for the many questions, but this is probably more a discussion than a Q&A.

How much better are paras compared to GI's? And is it worth taking the Airborne or Recon support commander for para's.

How do they compare to rangers? Is there any reason to forego a ranger commander for an Airborne or Recon support commander if you're looking for elite infantry?

With the recon commander, is the combat group call in worth it? It seems a fairly expensive for a para squad and a howitzer that isn't as good as it used to be.

How are you supposed to use the Airborne commander. I get that you can save on manpower by using munitions to call in .50 cals and AT guns. However, between these drop ins, the cost of upgrading paras, using various abilities and the P47- rocket strike, when are you ever floating munitions as USF?

How do you reinforce properly with OKW if you don't play Firestorm/Opel Blitz?

    Posted: 20 Jun 2021 06:22 AM PDT

So I usualy build my medical HQ somewhat close to the frontline and pull up with the Blitz next to it. So I'm able to retreat, heal and reinforce all at the same place.

Whats the point of throwing grenades if people can avoid them

    Posted: 20 Jun 2021 11:44 AM PDT

So basically 1 model is gonna throw a grenade and that mean 4 models is shooting(volks). Then 5 enemy models(rifleman) avoid while your 1 man is doing the throwing action. Leaving 4 men to shoot vs 5 men to shoot.

So you lose slight advantage in gunfight. Even worse if i use my assault grenadiers and they tried to throw the 5 men grenades where the throwing action is slow af.

So basically grenade is useless and also you waste ammo

    Why even play OKW?

    Posted: 20 Jun 2021 06:50 AM PDT

I've played since 2015 and have over 1000 hours in the game and I've mainly been playing OKW. I can't remember any time OKW didn't feel underpowered. They are by far the shittiest faction. Sure you have some nice gadgets and 5 star units, but it doesn't even matter when the enemy can pump out units that literally steamroll you whatever you do. You have to be much better than your opponent to actually have a chance. I think I've tried every strategy available. The only thing OKW is somewhat good at is early aggression, but that falls of quickly and you lose midgame 100%.

I tried allies a while back and despite having only like 15 hours playing them everything is so much easier. The grenades wipe squads, the long artillery actually hit compared to the stuka, you can pump shock troops so the volks become useless. I thought the infantry support gun was good until I tried ally artillery holy shit. It doesn't even matter if the shrek is said to be the best infantry AT when you have anti-tank snipers with handheld nuclear bombs. Late game OKW tanks are supposed to be good and while 1 on 1 they usually are, allies probably outnumber your tanks by far at that point and can just rush you without consequence.

Why would anyone want to play OKW? They are shit and have almost always been shit.
