Hi guys, what do you think about royal artillery regiment? Im trying to play it in 2v2/3v3 with friends and it looks awesome when you are bombarding everything. But then result screen come and it's like i did so little. Kills, damage it all look like it was killed by my tank and IS/RE not by artillery. Any advise how to play this commander?

Mindset about Float & Resource Stockpiling

    Posted: 03 Jan 2020 09:20 AM PST

I notice when I play - that I often float and also stockpile resources (for that counter that I need).

What's your mental trick for overcoming this?

It seems like an ingrained mindset to be able to "be stronger later" or overcome at the end.

In the same way I used to save my energy for the 2nd lap of the 800m, if that provides context. :D

    Winning Engagements

    Posted: 03 Jan 2020 09:07 AM PST

Are there any simple rules of thumb that you use to gauge relative strength in engagement?

    2) What is the likelihood to win an engagement (before RNG applies) based on the units?

For example: If I have 2 Conscripts in green cover shooting at a Volk and an approaching Sturmpio, what's my odds of winning?

My odds change when 1 or more model is missing for either side, but how do you like to think about whether you're ahead or behind? Do you think of DPS per unit type? (AKA - Obers are 1000, and Cons are 25, so avoid engagement, or 2 of 4 Obers vs a full Con squad in Green cover is roughly equal, etc)?

I'm really not a fan of spreadsheet wars, but understand that knowing some information can help you decide whether or not to take the engagement in the first place.. I'd be curious if anyone has thoughts on how games create balance to avoid spreadsheet wars as much as possible(?) -- Make all the factions the same strength (Chess?) etc

Why are Panzergrenadiers so damn strong right now?

    Posted: 03 Jan 2020 09:10 AM PST

It really sucks, You'll have a Vet 3 Penal Batallion lose medium range to a stock Pgren, and not to mention their thermonuclear grenades. They are like the new Rangers. They can just walk over and delete a squad. How can you play against these guys?

    Opinions on UKF performance

    Posted: 03 Jan 2020 01:26 AM PST

I've been playing a lot of team games (mainly 4s) as the UKF and I think they are potentially the strongest faction in all game modes with their generalist units and engineering mechanics. First, I'll list a couple of recent changes made to the UKF that I believe were a huge upgrade. Second, I'll list the reasons why I think the faction struggles. Last, some recommended changes.

Positive upgrades • Sappers can tear down emplacements • Comet is now more combat effective (not sure what stats were changed)

Struggles • Garrison cover: there might have been a change but I remember buildings being a lot more valuable in previous iterations of this game ( at least a year back). I appreciate how fire does extra damage against garrisoned units but for some reason bombardment seems more deadly indoors than outdoors (received acc. modifier too high?) This is is counter intuitive, historically inaccurate and severely devalues the maps. Buildings/trenches/emplacements at key points seem kind of useless.

Changes? • make garrisoned cover significantly resistant to bombardment (I shouldn't feel safer outdoors). This also has the added benefit of making units inside emplacements less like to die, making emplacements that much better • making it a visible dug out like the trenches already found on the map. It needs to have good visibility to maximize the benefit of the other changes. Also, the current trench looks bad. • the trench should have a downward ramp leading into the trench allowing troops to enter the trench how they enter green cover, not buildings. Once the unit is inside I suggest still giving the garrisoned bonus when standing still. Also, allow AT guns to enter trench • trenches should be able to be built extended lines the same as sandbags and wire. This allows UKF units to change position along the trench during a fight. This way they can respond to fire without completely stopping their shooting (like they do right now when they exit trench/building) but when they dodge anything they'll lose the stationary garrison bonus. Units should also be able to hard retreat without the exit animation (works with AT quick maneuvers too) • trenches no longer destructable but now part of the map. Trade-off? Tanks can now cross trenches but LVs can't. Also the enemy can now partially use your fortification in the other direction. I like this for team games because the great looking maps always turn into a flat dull landscape where units attacks like it's the 18th century.

So yeah, that's something I was thinking about. There are endless things that could be changed but I think these are a real upgrade , true to the factions character, enabling them utilize more if their kit more often. The UKF are my favorite because I feel that there is always work to be done with them due to how the tech tree is laid out. Their units are expensive and kinda running late. The result is a small, tough, reliable frontline force.

    Please share your thoughts below.
