Are we going back to demos on points? Bug? Don't worry, it only killed two veteran squads.

VonIvan Vs BaoLiang BO7 Insanity - Cash Game

Noob potentially getting his first COH game.

    Posted: 28 Apr 2020 10:02 AM PDT

Hey all, I don't really know where i should start. Im a huge fan of RTS games and love all the dawn of war games. I have heard good things about this series.

Should I start with 1 or does it not matter? Are the campaigns decent length? Once the campaign is complete is there repeatability?

Any idea if any sales are around the corner?

    Way to disable battle phases?

    Posted: 28 Apr 2020 05:21 PM PDT

I'm looking to play a match with only the first battle phase (MG's, mortars, scout cars, and infantry) and no tanks. Is there a mod or setting to do this? I can't find anything on the workshop. Thanks in advance!

Largest CoH1 Map? Also any good base building mods?

    Posted: 28 Apr 2020 03:33 PM PDT

Anyone know how large of a map you can make in Company of Heroes 1? As in, would it be possible to stitch 9 'typical sized' maps together and have one large tactical map?

Also anyone know of any mods that expand on what structures you can build?

    Thoughts/Questions about US 1v1

    Posted: 28 Apr 2020 12:56 PM PDT

Feel like some of my tactics/builds are failing me, be interested in peoples thoughts on a few things:

    Build:

I have been generally going Rifle/Rifle then teching b/c i usually have the fuel by then. Does most everybody go 3 rifles before teching? Getting to the MG seems helpful, but maybe stretching early units too much?

Getting LT and Cpt. It's not that much more fuel and you get another unit. This means also you get mgs and AT guns, both seem critical and i don't get how people live with just one or the other?

Light vehicles: I just feel like they suck, which is why i usually get both officers and team weapons. The stuart feels really key vs Flak Halftrack, but REs with zooks can can handle luchs. Puma is only a concern to me if its hunting light vehicles?

Tactical Map: I hear high level players use it a ton, i find it hard because ive got to micro units into cover, avoid rifle grenades (which murder me), etc. Do a lot f people use this, i'd be curious as to how it helps you. My eyes arent great but mini map seems adequate for most of it?

Also curious if anybody has commanders they always use vs a certain faction? I kindof like Armor vs OKW b/s Assault Engies can push and better fight Sturms. Other abilities less great though.

    thanks!

    My gripes with Wehrmacht Ostheer

    Posted: 28 Apr 2020 03:52 AM PDT

Hello. First of all, thank you for reading this; Second, this isn't supposed to be a post complaining about other factions being op or ostheer being up; Third, I am not calling for buffs. This is merely a post containing the things I dislike about Ostheer. With that out way, let's begin:

1 - The lack of a forward retreat point: This is the most major gripe I have with Ostheer. If you didn't know - all other armies have the ability to create forward retreat points (some with units (Major), and some with buildings (Battlegroup Headquarters)). Ostheer has the ability to create Medic bunkers, and bunkers, that can reinforce units, but not retreat bunkers. On the surface, it might not sound like a big deal, but on some maps, it can be extremely painful to see one retreat lose you the game because the enemy can take and create fortifications until your units return to the front.

2 - The lack of Elite Infantry units and Infantry unit size: Ostheer lacks Elite infantry units (like Obersoldallten, Rangers, and Commandos) and the squad size of almost all infantry units is 4. The squad size can be increased, but it forces you to pick the German Infantry Doctrine (which lacks heavy tanks). This really limits ost's infantry potential. This is somewhat made up for by the amazing team weapons.

3 - Lack of *Light Tanks*: I love that moment when you somehow defeat the enemy Infantry, place your 42s in the perfect spot, and then you see that T-70 coming for you. You can Faust it, but if the Russian player actually knows how to use it he will kite your grenadiers and slaughter your 42.

Thank you again for reading this! If you disagree - please let me know why!

    OST Light Halftrack Infantry Doctrine

    Posted: 28 Apr 2020 05:40 AM PDT

Inspired by u/KoGerth. I have decided to give my idea!

Light Mechanized Infantry Doctrine( try to find a better name? Lol)

( Crush your enemy with speed and no mercy. Command Halftrack can establish a forward retreat and heal your units while 251/22 can engage enemy armor with the help of Ostheer mighty tank! Then ClownTrack equipped with OP upgraded grenadiers can pew pew through weak Rifleman. (or boom boom weak Rifleman with mortar Halftrack) and any retreating armor can be chase with Breakthrough and Tactical Movement.)

0 CP: Command Sdkfz 251: Sdkfz 251 can now be upgraded to a Command Vehicle. They can provide medical supplies (like ambulance) and act as a forward retreat point. 120 muni for upgrade. Cannot transport troops and have increased line of sight and disable weapon. Probably enable Mobile Observation Post too.

3 CP : Sdkfz 251/22: A call in unit. Cost 350mp and 40 fuel or 30? They are Halftrack equipped with Pak gun. They are just like Halftrack, but 20% slower due to weight of the gun. Same health but good range. Probably range of Pak gun too.

Tactical Movement : Infantry go fast

0 CP : Sdkfz 250 or Mortar Halftrack for 2 CP.

Breakthrough ; vehicles go fast vroom.

That's it fellas. We just make The Ostheer an Overpowered faction.

Cheapest prebuilt pc I could get to run COH2

    Posted: 28 Apr 2020 06:02 AM PDT

Hey gang, got about 800 hours on this game, but sadly haven't played since my last pc died in like 2017. Would absolutely love to get back into it, but am useless with all things pc related. Don't have to run it at ultra 60 FPS or anything, but what's the cheapest I'd have to be paying for a setup that could run COH? Thanks :)
