Thoughts on the Artillery Field Officer?

What do you guys think about the Ostheer's field officer?

It has a bunch of utility and also it can go toe to toe with any infantry squad, even the elites and other officers.

It synergises really well with osttruppen when it reaches vet 3 as it gives a +25% accuracy aura in the charge ability.

Also it can drop smoke and normal barrages (when it reaches vet 1), but I personally don't understand what the diversion ability does.

However, I don't see a lot of people using it. Why or why not?

Mixing it up a bit (Addicted to Guard Motor Coordination)

    Posted: 27 Apr 2020 10:03 AM PDT

I've been really loving learning COH2. I'm still awful, but I've finally got my wins over 50% (spread across about 250 games), playing as Soviets.

Basically, I'm finding the general strategy of my games becoming a bit repetitive and would like to find out if there are any alternative play styles to mix things up. Part of the problem, is that I just cannot get myself off the Guard Motor Coordination commander - it just seems vastly superior to anything else I've tried. The mortars are brilliant, the T34/85 is great and vehicle crew repairs I find amazing for keeping your tanks on the field.

    My typical build order:

    Cons > Cons > Cons > Cons > Hospital / Molotovs / AT as required > T2 > MG/ZiS as required > T3 > T70 > T4 > T34/85

I will sprinkle in off-map units as required (typically get at least one mortar against Wehrmacht to displace MG's). It ends up being a pretty dynamic, mobile setup, moving around the map to try and put out fires and capitalise on opportunities. It also feels like I need a fair bit of map presence to have a chance of competing.

When I play vs. Axis, it feels like players have lots of very different play styles, squads and units that add up to very different and interesting types of games. Some swarm with troops and strangle you. Some set up little strongholds and camp until they've got their big toys. Some spam support weapons. Etc. etc.

    So...

    1. What are some viable macro strategy approaches for Soviets?
    2. What interesting, fun and viable commanders are there to support them?
    3. Where can I learn about said doctrines?

p.s. I have used T1/Penals a fair bit and had mixed success. They don't feel vastly more powerful than Conscripts and the MP cost is unforgiving. Also has the car been nerfed!? Suddenly seems to be getting chewed up by Sturms with ease.

Has anyone been experiencing problems with map vetoes in ai automatch/matchmaking.

    Posted: 27 Apr 2020 08:43 PM PDT

I know for a fact I keep getting the maps that I've been vetoing because I've been keeping track and always vetoe the same maps and they are the maps I hate the most. Are anyone else's vetoes getting ignored?

Playing against AI, does the OKW commander ability "radio silence" do anything?

    Posted: 27 Apr 2020 08:21 PM PDT

It's supposed to hide your units from the minimap of enemies but I don't know if AI reacts to minimap and I don't know if they have one or if they just don't care at all.

Favorite Two Units in the game?

    Posted: 27 Apr 2020 07:30 AM PDT

    Hi all,

Curious what everyone else enjoys playing. You get 1 infantry/teamweapon and 1 vehicle.

I choose the soviet 120mm mortar team, as that thing is such a killer and soooo much fun to use. For tanks I choose the AVRE! Nothing like a good squad wipe from indirect fire to tilt your opponent!

How about you guys? What do you enjoy most?

edit: Favorite muni if you want. Valiant pointed out the goliath and I agree its so much fun!

    Which commander should i get?

    Posted: 27 Apr 2020 10:54 AM PDT

Hi guys, i'm kinda new in this game (some months) and i almos hace enough coins to buy a commander, i'm main ostherr and i mostly use strategic reserves and jaeger armor, so i don't know which commander buy, i'm between mechanized assault wich seems pretty strong, and encirclement, wich looks a lot more fun and rewarding (pretty risky too), so, wich one should i get guys? I play vs other players single or team games, i never choose

    Royal cheek clapping

    Posted: 27 Apr 2020 07:45 AM PDT

Yesterday I had a really fun game 4vs4 with okw and on my lane I had to defend against sim city brits. I felt op with my okw until The Royal Engineers started clapping my cheeks. Literally 1 vet 1-2 Royal Engineer almost killed 2 Volks and 1 obersoldat. It's not that it's unfair or isn't it? Do you think they are op? Im a mediocre micro guy so i usually don't suck. Tell me what do you think should Royal Engineers be nerfed??

Play USF until you actually get good at the game?

    Posted: 27 Apr 2020 03:52 AM PDT

While I posted here ages ago, got given some tips etc I never really put them to use and COH was put on the back burner. Now like everyone these days I have more than enough time to play now, thing is. I suck, really I do.

I'm pushing maybe a 30-35% winrate in other factions atm - so far I've played OST, Soviet and now USF.

I notice when looking at the leaderboard your overall rank is much higher than other factions, I guess this ties in with the DLC and whether ppl have got it or not? But when I'm 1k higher in USF than what I am in the previous two factions I'm outclassed fairly quickly 2k is the lowest in USF so I'm matched with anyone around there or 1.5k when my ranks in other factions is 3k (sad I know) I can't learn a thing. Yes I've watched videos, even replays, but when you are put on the backfoot so hard early on its hard to put things into practice when you enter panic mode.

I know it sounds like I'm already answering my own question but.. thoughts?
