COH2 give control of some of my units to AI

    Posted: 05 Apr 2021 06:01 PM PDT

    Hello everyone,

i was wondering if there is a mod where i can give control of some of my units for AI.

i wish i could watch my infantry do the work while i support them by controlling only tanks and abilities.

i saw same idea in another game "total war warhammer 2" a mod called spectator mod where you let AI control some of your units while you only control the elite units

I don't understand the changes to Recovery Sappers

    Posted: 05 Apr 2021 05:34 PM PDT

They cost 250 MP, and yes they have a 5th man but that guy has a sweeper. So basically they're a regular RE squad in terms of combat effectiveness. At an increased cost. You get the sweeper without paying munitions but that's not really significant in the very early game. Also don't understand why they would remove the flares over vehicle wrecks, it's not like people regularly get vision with this ability because early vehicle losses are not that common.

Basically I don't see any situation where I would want to pay 250 MP at 0CP for a squad that has the same combat effectiveness as a squad that costs 210 MP. They need some other incentive.

    USF Air Support Coordination Tactics

    Posted: 05 Apr 2021 04:32 AM PDT

Hey guys. Here's me with another doctrine idea, partly inspired by u/YandereTeemo's post about anti-aircraft abilities, and some musing on how they could be fit into a doctrine without being a waste of a doctrine slot half the time. I feel it's most fitting for USF, and that it's about time USF actually got some proper abilities to reflect their absolute air superiority. Playing CoH2 you could have been forgiven for thinking US forces in Europe were under constant Stuka and day jumping Fallschrimjager attacks. So here goes!

2 CP: Designate Air Liaison Officer

Captain or Lieutenant can be designated as the Air Liaison Officer, locking both weapon slots (squad cannot be designated if it already has weapons). Air Liaison Officer squad has increased sight range, gains a single special M1C Garand with a 70% health critical threshold, gains the "Air Interception" ability, and can also deploy beacons, which are identical to those on Pathfinders with similar limitations.

So what this ability does is essentially to give you 1 Super-Pathfinder squad, that's a bit stronger Jaeger Light Infantry (except not really as the veterancy and RA are worse and there is no ambush stealth). The resulting squad is very good at supporting other damage dealing infantry, and provides Beacons without a third variant of Pathfinder. Air Interception itself is an expensive ability at 125 munitions, and while it is active, it will automatically send a P-47 to target any enemy aircraft for the duration of the ability. At Vet 1, cooldown for the ability is reduced, At Vet 2, cost is reduced to 100, and At Vet 3, 2 P-47s will be dispatched per enemy plane. Accordingly the P-47s should be well balanced in that a single P-47 won't always kill in a single pass.

    2 CP: Scout Paratrooper Squad

A 5-man Paratrooper squad that costs a "mere" 300 MP, Scout Paratroopers are quite similar to their larger counterparts when not upgraded as they lack a man and the demolition charge. They differ in that their upgrade options are different; They can upgrade with a single x1 elite M1C Garand, which essentially turns them into more durable Jaeger Lights without the ambush bonus and good veterancy. Their alternative upgrade is to get x3 Thompsons at 70 munitions, which is a weaker version of the x4 Thomspons at 90 muni other squads get, and instead of Tactical Assault, they gain a -3 MP cost reduction for their reinforcement. The resulting squad is essentially a sidegrade to Cavalry Riflemen with 1 BAR + Thompsons, which is a more durable and versatile squad with better DPS at most ranges, but is cheaper.

    5 CP: Recon Overflight

This is the same powerful recon ability as found on Tactical Support Company.

    12 CP: P-47 Bombing Run

An expensive bombing run ability, this ability costs 200 munitions, whereby the P-47 drops 2 1000 lb bombs in parallel that each have a very powerful explosion, with roughly twice the damage of bombs in the IL-2 bombing run, which is justified by how they are fewer of them.

    13 CP: P-47 Overwatch

A highly expensive "skill plane" ability at 300 munitions, P-47 Overwatch is essentially to P-47 Rocket Strike what Sector Assault is to Stuka CAS, in that it will also target infantry and suppress them with its .50 cal HMGs. The MGs on this ability will be particularly strong, also capable of hurting light vehicles, which is why it costs a whopping 50 munitions more than Sector Assault, which is already a very powerful ability to begin with.

Luftwaffe commander - Please bring back strategic bombing

    Posted: 05 Apr 2021 01:10 AM PDT

The new Luftwaffe's "heavy bombing" ability in the upcoming commander patch is not worth 300 ammo. UK has an similar (well to be honest it is the same as former strategic bombing) ability "air superiority" (I think that is the name), which costs 250 ammo, but it is IMO more effective than this one.

"Heavy bombing" ability should either be reduced to 200-250 ammo, or be added as an opening strike of OKW "sector assault" ability of overwatch doctrine.

However, I think it is the best solution to create a new luftwaffe commander with new abilities while adding relevant ones in stead of changing the current one. I mean it is called luftwaffe supply doctrine, yet in the new patch it gets stupid Osttruppen's suppy drop in stead of normal one.

My idea for this new doctrine:

    Luftwaffe terror doctrine

    1. CP 2 - luftwaffe officer
    2. CP 3 - supply drop (fuel/ammo or osttruppen, does not matter)
    3. CP 6 - stuka strafing support
    4. CP 9 - fragmentation bombing
    5. Cp 12 - heavy bombing

why hasnt the elephant in the room been addressed yet?

    Posted: 05 Apr 2021 12:12 PM PDT

spotting scopes on elephants have no right to exist. why take away/lessen the effects of self spotting on anti armor (old jacksons, aec/pumas, ect.) but keep a massive sight boost to something like the elephant?

Whats more dangerous then 1 vet 5 ?

    Posted: 05 Apr 2021 07:59 AM PDT

What if Osttruppen have the merge ability like conscripts do. Would that be op?

    Posted: 05 Apr 2021 06:18 AM PDT

Not asking for a change or anything… but just imagine if they can merge with other squads like conscripts with a few differences like keeping their default kar98k's when merging with others and are only able to merge with grens, pioneers, team weapons, and other osttruppen squads. Would that make them op for support?

Hi I'm fairly new to the game and was wondering what commanders are best for 2v2's and 1v1's wehrmacht in the most recent patches since all tier lists are at least 1 year old
