    COH2 Mod tools editing doctrines help!

    trying to edit some doctrines around but in COH2 Mod tools, in the commander category when I edit the commander (Luftwaffe ground) there are no changes in-game. Can anyone let me know what I'm doing wrong?

    CoH2 Campaign Speedrun auto-split support for LiveSplit

    Inspired by by recently popularized attempts Chihuahua_Charity and elpern) of completing the Company of Heroes 2 Eastern Front Singleplayer Campaign as quickly as possible (Any%), I wrote a script to automatically split the mission times and pause the timer during loading screens.

    Quick summary of supported features: Detection of starting a mission, detection of restarting of a mission (either via pause menu or by loading a savegame of the same mission), detection of ending a mission, loading screen time skipping, "Game paused" time skipping.

    The script is ready for testing and has already been successfully used by Chihuahua_Charity on a full campaign playthrough. See the GitHub page for usage instructions, notes about known issues, and "good to know" details.

    coh2: Which Campaign do you recommend for playtest?

    regular or Ardennes Assault or others etc?

    I can already tell coh2 is better in at least the tactical play part. Don't know about any other RTTs. Nobody really recommended anything. There doesn't seem to be many or any options in RTTs

    Don't know if gonna do Dawn2. So I guess after this this whole RTT topic would be done

    Settings UI

    ✨ impeccable (above & beyond what's needed): aow planetfall

    • ✨ whoever is lead UI designer of aow planetfall knows what they're doing, very talented
    • ✨ very sure they were lead UI designer of some other major game, software, or w/e else, this person knows what good UI is

    • can't hover over option, have to hover over ? mark meets

    In-game UI

    ❌ dawn 3

    • when place buildings, doesnt highlight/show where you can/cannot build (like other games do)
      • map highlight: green for where you can, red for where you can't
    • like in mobas, spell/skills should not have too many different radius (makes it hard to play other heroes)
    • ❌ map needs to be larger, take more space
    • should be placed at mid-bottom right, around 70-80% from botton-center
    • ❌ There's so many units, there's no hotkeys to select all units on screen (like other games have)
    • ✔️ right lick with barrack to rally
    • ❌ in mission/quest #2, cannon building cant right click, uses icon instead
    • have to left click button
    • ❌ action usage UI is not centered liek in mobas

    • ❌ view/camera needs to be more top down like in wc3 etc

    Pacing

    ❌ 2nd campign took so long and there wss nothign even new

    ❌ campaigns takes too long

    ❌ combat pacing: q takes long time to work, unlike mobas

    ❌ when there's many units, it's too fast paced to be tactical

    • has to be slower than this, numbers adjusted to do that

    Macro game

    • ❌ macro stuff isn't automated like
      • getting scrap
      • when they come out etc
    • ✔️ all brainless stuff should be automated
    • ❌ all the macro takes away from the tactics

    Flow

    ❌ In campaign single play, shows 'elite pick' screen even when cant even pick 'elites'

    Difficulty

    There's difficulty settings that tells you what is being changed. There's good ways to do difficulty, and there's bad ways (like just stat increases)

    Other UX

    ✔️ Menu UI (outside of game): can click on skills to see vid of skill like in moba games

    ❌ doesnt auto save (within a long campaign game, no checkpoints etc)

    Keybindings/hotkeys overall bad, can't change, can't select multiple buildings

    Loading screen: has meaningless tips

    ❌ Save doesn't generate title/name

    Exit: have to confirm to exit

    Story

    ✔️ Story autoplays itself

    ✔️ Skippable

    ❌ Presentation is garbage

    ❌ story real bad, looks like you need context background into Warhammer universe to know wtf they talking about

    Universe/theme

    • hate (options: best/like/dislike/hate)

    Sound

    ❌ very bad sound design

    ❌ too much repetitive sounds + too frequent

    ❌ too much voice sound noise

    ❌ distracting bad, very distracting, takes away from the actual game

    ❌ when clicking on building, it makes same sound, every damn time

    ❌ cant turn off

    ❌ can't lower, cos cutscene volume was same as 'speech volume' bad

    ✔️ aow planetfall: can mute/unmute when window not in focus

    Creativity of Ideas

    • ❌ didn't see anything new or interesting

    Tactical?

    ❌ Eh, this is not really a tactics game, it's just a worst version of wc3 (2002... )

    • too fast paced to be tactical
    • macro takes away from tactics

    Result/Outcome/Conclusion

    ❌ Complete waste of minutes and hours of my life

    Note: There's really zero point listing any of the bads above. All that matters is to look at good games. And learn from the good games. Trash bad games, they don't really matter

    • There may be reviews out there that mentioned good/bads that I hadn't gotten to, didn't see
    • dawn3 has less macro than wc3 from what i saw

    Said by others

    • 2 basically zero macro
    • 2 focuses more on small combat and has no base building
    • 3 is big battles
    • 3 armies are quite a bit bigger
    • Yet the big battles last 2 min until the champions oblitirate the army
    • 2 is very strong elites, very few squads
    • 2 is the most "tactical", but only in multi, and multi is dead, unless you play Elite, which is well, not what it once was... Solo is completely different, and plays like a ARPG/diablo-like. Very fun, but not a RTS or RTT.
    • 2, from managing firing arcs, cover, suppression, lots of unique abilities, vehicles with weak points, tactical retreats, etc, there is a mod for it, called DoW2 ELITE, which re-balances the game (making it way more fun IMO), adds a few units and several awesome army skins. Also highly recommend Company of Heroes 2 as the multiplayer is very, very similar to DoW2 with cover, firing arcs, armor penetration, etc, but it is more grounded since it's a WW2 game
    • 1 regular Relic RTS, very outdated.

    Reached mission #5 - Questions

    1. Should continue? Anything new or interesting that other newer/bettter games haven't done before? Anything worthwhile? Or continue on to better games (and hopefully not worst games)?
    2. DLCs worthwhile? Anything in DLCs new or interesting that other newer/bettter games haven't done before?
    3. Should do Dawn2? Or are there better real time tactics to test?
    4. COH2 up next I guess

    MG isnt sufficient or mobile enough

    even my churchill gets destroyed super quick

    HONESTLY.. They really need to be nerfed. Im not here to grief, I really want to know what to do vs them.... They have wayyyyyyyyyyyy to far range thou. absolutely needs a nerf, maybe just a minor one.

    axis have insane tank killers, but add the shreks and I there is just no dealing with it
