Question: How does lmgs damage at range work?

    Posted: 24 Oct 2020 10:48 AM PDT

I'm checking out stats for different units here: https://coh2.serealia.ca/
And I notice that when I select obersoldaten, riflemen and grenadiers with lmgs, the damage increase over distance. Is that a bug or does lmgs work like that?

    Anyone down to play?

    Posted: 24 Oct 2020 02:57 AM PDT

Hi guys, I am kind of new in the game. I can beat a standard AI, and sometimes beat a hard AI. It's so incredibly hard to find people to play online though.

Does anyone want to jump in on PC Company of Heroes 2?

What are the best noob maps in Coh2?

    Posted: 24 Oct 2020 09:15 AM PDT

So after many years I've finally made the switch to CoH2. Playing vs AI on maps like Achelous River or the Hochwald Gap really helped me get familiar with all the units and options at my disposal.

I tried Heidelberg something yesterday, got wrecked as Soviets but did just fine as Wehrmacht. Just trying to find other maps that might be good. It's not just bridge/chokepoint maps either, there was one called Alsace Moselle in CoH1 that I really liked and felt new player friendly, minus the bugsplat issues...

    Load saved campaign?

    Posted: 24 Oct 2020 12:43 PM PDT

So I recently picked CoH2 up on Steam and have been fun playing it. However, I've noticed that there doesn't seem to be a direct way to load a saved campaign from the main menu, not even on the "Start New Campaign" screen; the only way I've found is to actually start a new campaign, get to the point where the Pause menu unlocks, and load from there.

    Am I missing something?

How would you guys feel about a dual team faction?

    Posted: 24 Oct 2020 08:40 AM PDT

Just to clarify I have no clue on how this would be implemented or which factions to choose but this is just what I thought would be cool.

So for example, you could play the France or Italian faction and queue up with either axis or allies, being noted as either Free France/Vichy France or ISR/Kingdom of Italy. Each would have the same core units and central playstyle, but just like how the UKF can lock in anvil or hammer, each dual-faction would take that idea down a different path, specializing into different things, and while they might have a few of the same vehicles, other elite ones would be locked off.

For example, Free France would might have a more "partisan" playstyle, where instead of their forces all originated from their base, the entire battlefield would in some ways be their base (but im not sure how to balance this.) Like French units might gain a combat bonus for fighting in enemy territory.(the resistance) Late game as part of their teching process this would be "removed" in way for a more large scale assualt style. So you could try to delay teching as long as possible to keep your bonuses, then prepare for a few minutes and use all of your saved up fuel to launch a be all end all grand assualt.

Vichy France was known to fight in Africa against Free France, where combat was less about defensive warfare and more about decisive breakthrough attacks. Vichy France could have a theme of these breakthrough assualts, having very fast units where the strategy was to exploit weakpoints in the enemy lines and do devasting damage once they flanked the other armies. This like free france would transition into large scale grand assualts.

The main French unit could be a fragile, agile unit that excelled at medium-short ranges, useless by itself but when grouped with others are capable of taking on anything (but this might encourage blobbing). Perhaps they get a bonus somehow when flanking a unit, much like some units get bonuses for coming out of stealth, but im not sure how u would determine what is "flanking" through code. But the main point would be you can't put these troops just head on with other troops, you must use them smartly, similar to how people that use sturms really smartly can take initiative in the game.

Again I just wanted to throw the idea out there and maybe how it could be structured. Let me know if u guys think this is a cool idea, and tell me how an Italy/France/other dual-faction could work :)
