Company of Heroes That thing... it scares me.

    That thing... it scares me.

    Posted: 03 Nov 2020 11:20 AM PST

Company of heroes 2 has become unplayable with recent update.

    Posted: 03 Nov 2020 06:27 PM PST

The menus lag like absolute mad to the point of unusability. This has never been an issue until the most recent update. I'm not the only one this is happening to either. I cannot pinpoint what triggers the issue either, as it is not a constant. It seems to hit at random.

    Soviet commander idea

    Posted: 03 Nov 2020 08:43 AM PST

someone help me out, i am very confused with conscripts vs grenadiers.

    Posted: 03 Nov 2020 06:41 PM PST

so i have been maining soviets for a hot second now, and i have seen that my conscripts have been acting very weird and contradictory to what i have been told they are good/bad at. the general consensus is, grenadiers do better at longer ranges and conscripts do better at shorter ranges. but
i have done and a little testing and, it seems like a toss up everytime at every range. i feel conscripts do WORSE at close range, and grenadiers do better. was there some kind of patch? if so what is the meta about conscripts vs grenadiers? because this has got me stumped at what range i should try and keep my conscripts against grens.

Any place to get high level replays?

    Posted: 03 Nov 2020 03:36 PM PST

Been playing a lot lately and want to get better. Is there a place I can see top level games? I don't want youtube vids. Also what are the most competitive OKW commanders? Been playing only 2v2

Clearly WW2 wasn't historically accurate. My 152s always glance panthers. [x-post r/tankporn (Panther turret after being hit by an ISU 152, I hope this hasn’t been posted here before.)]

My friend who normally plays OST tried soviets for a game. Here were some funny lines from when he finally got an IS-2

    Posted: 03 Nov 2020 10:13 AM PST

On deployment "Why the fuck is this thing so god damn slow"

"Jesus this thing can't hit anything"

*On it finally hitting an enemy panther "What the fuck? That's it?"

"My SU-85 does more damage and it's way cheaper!"

When asked about what about it killing infantry "Fuck it. I'll throw a KV-8 at them. Its flamethrower might be better than this stupid thing"

While it was under attack "Oh my god why won't it die already- Oh hey, vet 1"

On it dying "Finally... Jesus christ Im never using that tank again"

Is the Eastern Front mod on Steam the most up to date?

    Posted: 03 Nov 2020 06:28 AM PST

I am wondering because it feels like its 90% done while lacking that final polish.

I tried the Russians and my builders can build two different tank halls with the same name (Russian Tank Hall), with the more advance Tank Hall not having an activable shortcut tab.

I tried the Ostheer and it references a Panzer II which I cannot build. Furthermore, trying to use the Pincer Movement ability causes the game to freeze in a Fatal Scar Error.

Am I supposed to use the Moddb version instead? That seems like it was last updated in, what 2014? Appreciate some help as I would love to enjoy this mod properly. Cheers!

    Concentrated Artillery Tactics

    Posted: 02 Nov 2020 10:53 PM PST

This is a doctrine centered around the historically very prominent use of artillery by the Soviets, and to promote the use of tube artillery and make it more competitive with respect to rocket artillery.

Utilize the overwhelming firepower of Soviet Artillery to pulverize enemy defenses and throw them into disarray, before going through.

    0 CP: Improved Artillery Flares

The flares of 81mm mortars will reveal a 50% larger area, while ML-20 field artillery pieces will get the 152mm Flare Barrage ability at a fair munitions cost that fires 4 artillery flares to reveal enemies in a very large area. This ability does not share a cooldown with the other barrage abilities.

    0 CP: Improved Smoke Ammunition

The smoke-shells of 81mm mortars will cover a 50% larger area, while ML-20 field artillery pieces will get the 152mm Smoke Barrage ability that does not share a cooldown with the other barrage abilities.

3 CP: M5 Artillery Command Halftrack

This one-off command unit is similar to its non-doctrinal cousin, except it cannot upgrade with a Quad mount. In turn, it will halve the barrage/smoke barrage cooldown of nearby friendly tube artillery, and will give a 25% fire rate bonus to friendly mortars. It also heals friendly infantry in an area around it to help it heal field pieces.

    8 CP: ML-20

The centerpiece of this doctrine, the ML-20 is a powerful gun/howitzer that is further enhanced by the abilities of this doctrine.

    12 CP: Artillery Observer Overflight

This fairly expensive recon ability is similar to the recon run of USF's Tactical Support, in that it reveals a large area. The recon IL-2 that is sent is also particularly tough, and will mark a large area. Any enemy units will be fired upon by the owner's idle tube artillery automatically (as if they were counterbattery fired). The range of each tube artillery is increased by 50% for the targeting purposes of this ability.

All units affected by this ability will also fire 50% faster.

Is it just me or do obers kinda suck?

    Posted: 03 Nov 2020 12:27 AM PST

Hey all. So, I don't play much okw unless I just want to do some silly shenagins, but lately I've been using obers as a replacement if I lose a volk squad lategame and... They just are so underwhelming.

For an extra hundred manpower they do far more damage yes but also with only 4 models, and their reinforcement rate being so expensive and so slow, I feel like I'd rather have anything else.

Why are they so bad design wise?

What would happen if they got buffed? (Maybe a 70 mp price increase to get a 5th model?)

And why do I remember them scaring the shit out of me when I was first starting to get serious with Soviets?
