Trying to get better at usf

    Posted: 10 Jan 2021 09:40 PM PST

Does anybody know any guides or play styles that could enhance my capabilities as a us player? I usually make 2 rifleman, get a captain and give him a bar, get an at gun and the upgrade platoon thingy. Then get a half track, a their rifleman, the weapon radk upgrade, howitzer, and an ambulance. By the end I've got a Sherman and 2-3 starred rifleman with bazookas and 1919 machine guns.

    Noobie wants to improve

    Posted: 10 Jan 2021 11:56 AM PST

    Good day everyone!
As mentioned above, I need your help, to improve my gameplay.
Since I am aiming for a faster way than RNG influenced "Trial and Error" I need you to share some knowledge with me.
I've seen pages with statistics and graphs, but the most recent I found was from 2016. Since the game is alive and changing like little other games that old, this data is highly unreliable and sometimes even fails to give a general idea of how things should perfom.
Therefor I'm asking you to share the most recent, updated data with me and everyone with the same wish as I do: To improve myself to keep the scene alive for another 13 years to come!

Does anyone know if there is an ETA for when it goes live, or are we going to get our "Winter Patch" in the summer again?

I don't get how to use mods (CoH2)

    Posted: 10 Jan 2021 02:28 AM PST

The last year or so I didn't really play the game, but I have now reinstalled it on my new PC. However none of my skin and decal mods show up, even though they show as downloaded from the Steam Workshop and are visible in the in game modding tool. Maps work fine tho. And I managed to get Spearhead working by selecting "play with mod" in the modding menu. But how is that supposed to work with the other mods?

How can I activate them? Thanks in advance.

Help some casuals with big team games? (3s/4s)

    Posted: 10 Jan 2021 03:43 AM PST

Hey there, it's been a long time since I played Coh2. Last I played things were like...You could upgrade Volks with double panzershreks and you could have a JT and a KT. Or at least that's what I remember, maybe i'm wrong, but I remember having fun with multiple big boy tanks.

So the boys and I wanted something fun to play for a change since, yknow, state of the world and we were looking for a change of pace. Booted up Coh2. Booted into a game against some Hard AI and got absolutely destroyed.

We ended up playing this mod called "The Advanced Powers" and it was kinda fun and crazy, but it kept crashing our games so we thought we'd go back to playing regular Coh2.

Now we thought ok, we'll shake the rust off, and we each did a bunch of 1v1s vs the hard AI and beat them easily. Turned it up to the expert AI, still beat them hands down. Wouldn't say easy, but definitely like doable with a little bit of sweat. So we thought we were ready to go back into a team game and we got absolutely destroyed by the AI on hard again.

After having a bit of a group meeting we thought ok, maybe it's something to do with us playing allies (we tried playing various combinations of Soviet, UKF, and USF and got stomped pretty hard every time). So we booted in as the axis and we flattened them. Turned the difficulty up to expert and it once again got pretty hectic if we didn't have munitions for stuff like Pgrens with shreks or AT infantry, but we stood a much better chance.

Now I've been doing some reading in some of the forum posts and trying to sort through whats helpful and whats not is a little bit of a headache because you got a bunch of people saying "Axis OP" and "Allies OP" and then you got people that are like "The more overbalanced stuff is the better it is for competitive". We're just compstomp scrubs and we're trying to get a bit better. I think if we were gonna move into Pvp we'd probably look more into some serious stuff like specifics of different mines and unit DPS curves and stuff but we're just trying to beat the computer for now.

I think the problem we're having is kinda when the enemy tend to get their first vehicle out. If we're doing a friendly Pvp then you can do something like lure a vehicle over a mine or snare it and cause it to be a liability or something if they overextend but the problem is the AI seems to pump units out like it doesn't even care.

Say on Red Ball Express, we'll have half the map, the centre, and the 2 fuel and ammo points, and then a constant wave of stuff like Pumas and P4s (or shermans and T34s as Axis) starts to come out around 10 mins. We're barely done teching up, maybe get both CPT and LT as USF or like, T1 and T2 and saving fuel for T3 as soviet. Probably got something like PTRS penals out and an AT gun for AT capabilities. Maybe Might get a vehicle dive for the AT gun, which takes a bit of chip damage on the AT gun and the penal squad after getting a sachel off. But then as soon as that P4 gets crippled or destroyed, there's another vehicle coming in behind it, and another one, etc. Eventually when we get pushed back or need to reinforce, they swoop in and take map control, which leads to a snowball.

Same sorta thing happens as Axis, except with good Anti tank infantry we got a bit of a better chance since it's easier to make better trades vs those early vehicles. But until you get the munitions for a squad or two (And then using things like snares and grenades and mines all puts you behind on that) to help with those earlier vehicles, we tend to bleed a lot of manpower.

I was wondering if anyone could give some advice into this, especially as the allies? It seems like there's been a lot of sweeping changes that make their early game a lot more difficult, like you've gotta pay to unlock the weapons and grenades now, and USF has to pay to unlock the 37mm and pack howie. Lots of changes like that seem to delay their tech/early vehicles to compete in this area and we've been getting pretty hammered.
