    Hi

    Maybe relic should do something about players dropping out of the game.

    Suggestion:

    1. Make players ban more maps
    2. Give players 20 min ban after dropping out of a match after the first 10 min

    Its a big problem in 3vs3 and 4vs4

    dealing with defenses

    Some friends and I have been playing 3v3s in this game lately and every game turns into a stalemate with a lot of static defenses everywhere. I know they probably arent op or anything but we all suck too much to attack into eachother and it makes the games take forever. what are some general tactics to deal with these easier? I have only played okw and tried using the infantry support gun but it dies to the mortar pits then infantry dies to the machine gun bunkers and tanks die to the AT guns

    A Typology of Infantry

    I was discussing faction differences with a friend today when I came up with a way of classifying and comparing infantry that I thought might be helpful to people. We can break infantry down into three types: generalist, specialist, and supportive.

    Generalist Infantry

    Examples: Riflemen, Volksgrenadiers, Panzerfusiliers (G43s), Conscripts (SVTs) and Guards

    Generalist infantry has tools against both vehicles and infantry and, crucially, enough combined durability and damage to perform well 1v1 against other infantry units.

    Specialist Infantry

    Examples: Infantry Sections, Penals, Panzergrenadiers, Panzerfusiliers (Schrecks) and almost all elite infantry

    Specialist infantry performs exceptionally well vs. either infantry or vehicles while either having no defense against vehicles or relatively poor anti-infantry performance.

    Support Infantry

    Examples: Conscripts (basic), Grenadiers, Panzerfusiliers (basic) and Ostruppen

    Support infantry lacks the well rounded stat line of generalist infantry, but can still disrupt enemy vehicles and has enough utility to support other units effectively.

    Notably, weapon upgrades and game phase can change which of these categories an infantry unit fits into. For example, Panzerfusiliers start the game as support infantry, but can become either strong generalists or AT specialists, depending on your upgrade choices. Similarly, Conscripts with SVTs gain enough damage output compared to basic Conscripts that they become generalists. On the other hand, Volks fall off in terms of their combat performance over the course of the game, and are more support infantry by late game than true generalists.

    In terms of how you should or can use this infantry, generalist squads can operate a little more independently without fear of getting routed by a light vehicle or stomped 1v1 by enemy infantry. Specialist squads are vulnerable without support from a unit that can cover their weakness, but perform great if they can match up against their intended target. Finally, support infantry needs either numerical superiority or specialist/team weapon/vehicle assistance, but is also very effective at supporting those units against a wide variety of targets.

    It's also worth keeping in mind that this is more of a three dimensional spectrum than it is a hard and fast typology. For example, Paratroopers with Bazookas still have four quite solid M1 Carbines and a grenade for attacking enemy infantry. You could argue that they are close to being generalists. I've excluded them because they still typically lose 1v1 to enemy infantry.

    Edit: I'm writing a quick clarification as to my intentions, since I did a poor job of expressing them in my original post. The purpose of this typology is to encourage people to think about how different kinds of infantry are best used. It is not about ranking them: generalist infantry are not better the specialist or support infantry, or vis versa. Rather, it's about understanding the different roles that infantry can and do play in their respective armies. Additionally, it's mostly aimed at newer players, and helping them think about the role of infantry across different armies.

    I will note that at a certain point in the game, most generalist infantry effectively becomes support infantry. Two things are worth noting about this: 1) when this happens is variable between games, and 2) some infantry is better at being supportive than other infantry. Notably, Riflemen have a lot less baseline utility than Conscripts or Volks. They still retain a little bit more independence than these units in the late game, but once medium armor is on the field, a single snare is no longer a meaningful vehicle deterrent. If any infantry truly retains its status as "generalist" in the late game, then it may be Guards, who remains a serious threat to both infantry and vehicles.

    Finally, just because generalists will tend to win against other infantry squads 1v1 doesn't mean that they should be primarily used this way. Forcing 2v1 fights is the best way to win early game engagements and get ahead. This is also true of generalists. However, if generalists end up in a 1v1 or 2v2 fight, then they will generally be favored against and equal amount of support infantry.

    Destroying unmanned team weapons

    Just looking for tips on destroying unmanned AT guns or machine guns, etc. I attack ground them with my tanks or AT guns but I have a hard time connecting with them. Is there a trick to this?

    AI which replaced dropped player behaviour.

    Me and my mates regularly plays 4v4 casually and one game we noticed something weird with one of the AI behaviour. Enemy player have 4 Katyushas the player dropped. As soon as he dropped the AI barraged a Panzer AA Truck which is in the middle of building and the enemy have no idea it is there. I asked my opponent, they didn't even know the AA truck is there. The AI just know it's there and completely destroys it.

    Also when the AI is controlling our dropped opponent, their Barrage unit seems can "track" my units, killing them instantly. Like A ZiS gun, I am storming in with Volks + MP44. I saw it barrage, so I turn left. 1st shell fell on the middle and killed 2 guys, ok I turn right, the 2nd shell fell right and instant kill the remaining guys =(.

    Then I sneak in two Puma behind enemy lines to kill the Katyushas and was walking pass 1 MG crew and 1 Mortal crew of the dropped player. Then those 2 unit throw anti-tank grenades and destroyed both of the Puma engines. I can't reached the Kats in time and the enemy tank came rolling in and destroys the Puma.

    Also , the dropped player AI mortared my camo'ed sniper to increase LOS for my AT guns...

    Removed CoH2 Content

    I have always been curious about removed content in games and i was curious just about how much has been removed in this game or never been added in the first place?

    So far i know of

    1. Panzer III's
    2. Urban Assault Commander (And his Abilities)
    3. Red Banner Divisions
    4. Green T-34's

    Friend can't play coh2, tells him to purchase already purchased game.

    Hello,

    My friend has installed CoH2 on a new pc, but when we attempted to play, he was unable to play anything barring Theatre of War, with everything else requiring a purchase. This is despite him having played with me previously. The only things I have found about this are people having bought the dlc before the base game (which he did not) or people mistakenly having purchased the wrong dlc .

    Any tips on how to reduce lag/stutter/low fps and short freezes in multiplayer?

    Myself and friends like to play 3v3 vs NPCs, unit cap 150.

    Initially the game runs fine but as the match goes on fps drops significantly, but worse yet, lots of stuttering, often freezing for a few seconds, then suddenly running at faster speed as it catches up. During this it is virtually impossible to control units.

    We all have fast PCs, minimum 6core cpus, lots of ram, fast GPUs etc, any tips on how to make this game playable at all?

    Black screen when minimized

    I just upgraded from a 980 to a 3070. I used to be able to minimize the game between matches or after a match, but now the screen will go to a black screen if I minimize the game. I can see my mouse cursor move, but I can't alt tab, ctrl alt del or do anything except hit the power button on the machine and restart. I was wondering if anyone has had this issue? I'm updated to the 461.72 drivers.

    Ai problem?

    Hey guys.

    I've noticed a problem in the last couple of games I've played where when a player drops, the rocket arty rushes to the front and behind your lines. I witnessed it with both Katys and calliopes. Anyone else noticed it?
